Threshld · iOS

Threshld has no servers and no accounts. Everything it reads and everything it records stays on your iPhone. We cannot see your goals, your health data, your photos, your location, or which apps you lock.
The one exception is a pact, and only if you start or join one. A pact shares a short summary of your day with the people in it, through your own iCloud. It never passes through us, and nothing you have typed into a goal is ever part of it.
With your permission, Threshld reads the Health data your goals need: step count, walking and running distance, active energy, dietary energy, workouts, exercise minutes, mindful minutes, and flights climbed. It reads these, including in the background, only to compare them against the target you set. Threshld never writes anything to Health.
With your permission, Threshld reads today's step and distance count from the motion sensor. Health writes this data in batches, so the sensor reflects your progress sooner — this is what lets your apps unlock promptly when you finish.
If you set a place goal, like 30 minutes at the gym, Threshld uses your location to notice when you arrive at and leave the places you saved. With Always permission it can do this while the app is closed. This happens on your phone. Threshld keeps no history of where you go, and your location is never shared, including with a pact.
When you search for a place to save, the search text and your approximate location go to Apple Maps to find results, as with any app that uses Apple's map search.
For a task goal, Threshld asks for a photo taken live in the app as proof the task was done. The photo is used only to confirm the task and is then deleted. It is never uploaded or shared. Threshld does not record audio.
Threshld uses Apple's Screen Time framework to lock the apps you choose, and, for an app-time goal, to count minutes in a group of apps you pick. Apple deliberately does not reveal which apps you selected — Threshld receives only opaque tokens it cannot read, and for app-time goals only the fact that the time was reached. Threshld does not know, and cannot know, which apps you have chosen.
Threshld sends reminders and progress notifications from your phone. If you are in a pact, iCloud wakes Threshld when the pact changes so it can tell you, for example, that a friend kept their day. Those notifications are created on your phone.
A pact is a few people holding each other to their days. Starting or joining one is always your choice, and nothing is shared until you do.
Pacts travel through Apple's iCloud, in the iCloud account of the person who started the pact, and are shared only with the people who joined it from the invite link. Threshld has no access to them.
As with any iCloud share, Apple runs the sharing itself, and the person who started a pact may be able to see the iCloud account of people who joined in Apple's own sharing settings. Threshld does not read or show it.
Leaving a pact stops your days being shared from then on. The starter can end a pact, which deletes it from iCloud for everyone.
Your goals, your daily history, your streak, hours locked, your saved places and app groups, and your settings are stored on your device. Some of it is shared with Threshld's own widget and background extensions through a private app group so they can show your progress while the app is closed. That storage is accessible only to Threshld on your device.
Deleting the app removes it all from your phone. You can also clear your history at any time in Settings, under Your history. A pact you started stays in your iCloud until you end it.
If you share a receipt of your day, it goes only where you send it through the iOS share sheet.
Threshld Pro is sold through Apple. Payment, billing, and renewals are handled entirely by Apple, and Threshld never sees your payment details. Whether your subscription is active is confirmed on your device through Apple's own receipt.
Threshld is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. As described above, it collects no personal information from any user.
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. If a future version of Threshld ever collects or transmits data beyond what is described here, that will be stated here plainly and you will be asked first.
Questions about this policy can be sent to threshldapp@outlook.com.
